A welcome from the CEO of the VEC:
Dear Delegate,
Welcome to the Vancouver’s inaugural global Cities Summit, 2012.
I am delighted that you are part of this important dialogue, taking place at a pivotal time in the world’s history of growth and urbanization.
We are here to find, and to fine-tune, solutions to the pressures that businesses and cities face in the 21st Century. The world is urbanizing rapidly, and city leaders and their citizens, whether corporate citizens or individuals, are seeking new and better ways of managing the strain in the face of a global tug-of-war for resources, markets and environmental restraint.
We have proudly assembled a roster of incredible international and national speakers, thought-leaders from both the public and corporate sectors, and participants who will engage in discussions on challenges, ideas and solutions.
We hope this first Cities Summit will be as rewarding for you as we know it will be for us, and especially that it proves to be a useful experience.
Other than being an engaged participant, we ask you for one thing…that you take the knowledge from this Summit and help make positive change in your company, your business, your community, etc, so that in subsequent years we can learn from you.
Enjoy the Summit!
Lee Malleau
CEO
Vancouver Economic Commission
